live doppler 7hd showing you some rain starting to move up towards the cloverdale area in the last hour or so we had quite a bit of rain. this has moved to the east. ukiah, cloverdale right now seeing some pockets of rain there. take you towards 101 north. just between stoney point road, you can see some moderate rain moving through there. and we have had reports of hit and miss showers in the brentwood area, oakley, tracy, as well, and these are moving in rapidly, and then just moving on towards the east as well. you can see over to the lake tahoe area, boy, just incredible amounts of snowfall for the last 24 hours, starting to ease up just a little bit. you can even get a sense of the lightning strikes as some of the cells start to move on towards the east. rainfall totals. here's a look.

the last 24 hours, close to an inch, a little over an inch in the north bay,. the timing of the next storm, plus advisories coming up. >> ama: developing storm news out of san francisco where cleanup concludes after a tree came crashing down. it smash the oning of this gas station. a branch of the tree smashed a car window. no one was hurt. john alston is on the scene and will bring you a live report tonight at 6:00. the weather system has created delays and traffic jams, on the ground and in the air, as travelers head to their holiday destination, we're live at san francisco international airport with more. reporter: we have had some heavy rain for the past hour or. so this unsettled weather brought with it some flooding and also a change in wind

direction. the wind shift has caused sfo to cut back on flight arrivals and departures by more than half. the more than rain flooded some city streets. here in san francisco, deep standing water caused drivers to slow down before merging on to highway 101. the weather brought scattered showers and a change in the morning's wind direction. san francisco international airport duty manager says a wind change at the airport equals a change in flight patterns, and in how many flights are allowed to land and take off, which is why these aircraft are backed up. >> we were cut back from 60 to 25 landings. so that is a big number. reporter: that also includes departures. the flight information board shows only a few flights either arriving or leaving on time. not good news to gretchen, who has to catch a connecting flight. >> we have an hour delay, and supposed to leave at 2:00, and

we're supposed to fly into chicago, we'll have ten minutes to connect to our flight. >> they say they try to deep delies to 45 minutes. >> we held 459 minute foors long time, for almost all morning, and then the sky is getting dark, and we increased to about an hour. >> masters is just trying to get back to san diego. this rain might mean a longer delay. >> i've been here a half hour. >> with more rain falling these delays are expected to continue. rank says it's project 100,000 peoplewill will travel all day saturday. also says more people are expected last-minute travelers are expect it to travel tomorrow to local airports. if you're expected to take a flight tomorrow, our flighttracker will give you an idea if there are flight delays go to abc7news.com and you'll see a link on our home page.

reporting live, abc-7 news. >> ama: our stormy weather is creating hazardous driving conditions to lake tau low. all eastbound laned of i-80 were closed because of spinouts. the lanes reopened this afternoon. here's a look from the caltrans camera showing i-80 earlier and cars being detoured. there's no snow there but the road are slick and traffic in the far right laying is being diverted off 80. highway 50 is open but chains are required. >> here's some other nasty conditions near lake tahoe. weightout -- white out conditions, and highway 267 at north star, it was still coming down this afternoon. while the weather is maiming for treacherous driving ski reports are reporting excellent

conditions. this morning we had a lot of rain, and that is blamed for a number of accidents around the bay area. reporter: this morning's storm began as a heavy rain, pushed by gusty winds that sent the rain horizontally around san mateo, and an hour later, but that was only treasure. on highway 17, the rain picked up but the cars weren't slowing down. in san jose, the relentless rain flooded themer meridian onramp, closing is for three hours. nearby the worst effects of the early storm was happening at the same time. a driver going too fast for the conditions skid across five lanz of innocent 280, crashing into another car. one landed on its roof. the other went halfway down the

embankment and landed on its side. surprisingly, no one was seriously hurt. >> luckily everybody in the collision was wearing their set beets and when they're not in situations like this you often time see ejections and major injuries, and today it's just mine your complaint office pain. >> drivers across the bay area agree in weather like this, defensive driving is the key to staying safe. >> people are still driving fast. you just got to watch out for them and slow down a little bit and anticipate the worst of what other people might do if they hit puddles. >> people should slow down like 10-miles-an-hour. >> are you slowing down? >> of course, i have a baby. >> it's all advise we should adhere to. >> ama: we want to share with you this rain bowe from -- rainbow over the san francisco bay win.

memorial church hasn't out almost 10,000 toys today as part of its annual holiday giveaway issue this year the san francisco giants partnered with glide to mike sure each child got toys. the staff say the need is greater than ever this year and families have to choose between toys and food. for many of the children this to giveaway is all they will get for christmas. >> how is the weather shaping up? hi, leigh. >> leigh: actually, a nice break today. we had some scattered showers about but they will be returning across the bay area tomorrow morning. live doppler 7hd picking up activity north of the golden gate bridge. santa rosa being hit with rain, a little moderate cell moved through the neighborhood. and near sebastopol, and maxwell, brentwood, seeing a brief shower, and also picking up showers right now, 101 near

mortgage -- morgan hill. here's a look at current readings. pretty much uniform. upper 40s to low 50s and the numbers are going to stay in that vicinity overnight. this is what you need to know. heavy rains sunday morning. we'll look for clearing sunday night, and it does look like it will be dry for our christmas eve. christmas day we'll bring in a chance of a few more 0 showers. this impulse moved through earlier this morning and it just raced through. we're seeing a little clearing here but this is the next storm right here that will move in here early sunday morning, and here's the timing to help you plan your night and day. tonight if you're out and about, scattered showers. it's going to be tomorrow morning when the next system starts to move in. here is your 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 a.m. time frame of ukiah, santa rosa, the frontal system starting to drop.

that is when the winds pick up as well. tomorrow morning, moderate rain in the north bay heading down towards san francisco, this is 9:00 a.m. the highest wins, 45 miles-per-hour, right ahead of this and at 1:00, 2:00, we'll start to see partial clearing in the north bay and then very heavy rainfall east bay and south bay locations by 4:00, 5:00 tomorrow afternoon, this front has push on towards the south and we'll see the nice clearing i just mentioned overnight for sunday night and monday. now, out ahead of this system. winds will be up. wind advisory up for the north bay until 1:00 tomorrow afternoon. to the east and south locations until 3:00 because it's going to tame tike for the front to move through. and 50 miles-per-hour, maybe the higher elevations, south winds 20, to 35 miles-per-hour. rainfall potential, one and a half-two inches in the north bay, peninsula, east bay, south bay, an inch, and higher el

racings in the north bay, three to as much as four inches of rainfall. all right, tricky travel to lake tahoe or to the sheer a range. the storm warning in place until 10:00 tomorrow night. two to five feet expected before the 4,000-foot level. and with these very strong winds, visibility reduced to his than a quarter mile. so some of the roadways were closed this morning so be sure to check on that and carry the chains and expect some delays there as well. we'll look at the clearing, followed by the south bay, and it's going to be wicked out there with heavy rain, isolated thunderstorms, temperatures in the 50s. what's nice though, we'll get a break in this as we end up sunday night, monday, christmas eve is dry. showers christmas afternoon. showers on wednesday, and then a slight chance on thursday and friday. >> thank you so much, leigh. shu is here with sports and big
